I just got set up with FIOS and I love it. The speed of my computer has changed drastically, it is a great service. I tell you, it is way better than my old verizon DSL setup. Now for about the same price of my old DSL I have 10MB download and 2MB upload speeds which is so much better than my old 3mb/765kb setup. Along with the verizon online account I also have the wonderul FIOS TV, this includes high definition. This is perfect for my brand new LCD television. With two standard definition boxes, one high definition set top box, phone service and High Speed Dsl, my price is around 120 dollars a month. This is pretty sweet! Why is it so great? Because, before I was paying the same amount for regular cable through Time Warner and an upgraded 3 MB DSL/phone service through Verizon. Actually, I was paying about 5$ to $10.00 more. So you can see why I am so excited about this FIOS Service. If you have the chance and you are located in an area with the fiber optic services needed for FIOS I would strongly recommend getting it. It will make your television/online/phone experience so much better.
So here is a recap of what I am getting for about $120 a month:
200 plus (almost 250) channels, excluding movie channels.
10/2 Download/Upload online speeds
The verizon freedom essentials phone plan with
a) call waiting
b) number recognition
c) complete online support
I just got started with the service so as I learn more by will definitely be writing about it.
Edit:
So, checking through my service I have found that I have about 20 HD channels. I hope verizon keeps adding more because this just is not enough for the cost. But, they have said that they will be adding more and more high definition channels, especially since cable is going all digital soon(2009 here we come). So I expect to have more HDchannels added on within the next year. We will just have to see.
On a better note, the service does include on demand channels. This includes on demand HD movies, kids shows, music programs, recorded network shows (discovery, NBC, Smithsonian channel etc.) and much more. I really do enjoy this part of Fios because I can watch whatever I want, whenever I want without having to go to the video store or wait for a program to be airing.
