I can’t say enough how much I love steaks. One of my favorites has always been Filet Mignon. You can’t get a better steak than one that has been cooked just right. But, we also have to consider what we are going to do with this nice piece of meat- are we going to add a little seasoning, or just go with good old A-1. Well have I have got a steak recipe just for you. I am a big fan of garlic also, I even take those little garlic pills. So why don’t we add a little garlic into our Filet and see how it goes…Here is the recipe:

2 whole heads of roasted garlic

1 cup red whine vinegar

3 shallots, finelly chopped

2 cups chicken broth

4 1-inch thick beef tenderloin steaks

1 teaspoon crushed black peppercorns

Combine: wine vinegar and shallots in a small saucepan

Boil until almost all the liquid has evaporated

Add the chicken broth-boil until you have about a cup left

Squeeze the garlic from the roasted cloves and puree.

Pour in the broth and puree and KEEP WARM

Press the pepper into both sides of the steaks.

Rotate ina Flat Standard Basket for 15-20 minutes.

Now serve, topped with the Garlic and there you have it Gourmet Mignon.

I know what I am cooking tonight and I know exactly where i am going to be getting the steaks from.

Love this place and for the best steaks for your Gourmet Mignon there is no other.

If you are like me, then you are not much of a shopper and when it comes to my wife, I sometimes just don’t know what to get. Sure she can go to the mall and spend hours just browsing around the stores until she finds that perfect something. But, for me, I am lost the second I walk into the place. I am looking here and there and everywhere and I usually just want to “get out of dodge”. Well, in my opinion, that is what makes online shopping such a great idea. Now for us guys, the whole shopping for your wife’s birthday or maybe your anniversary has become a lot easier. But, you might say, ” How am I to know what to get ?” Well the first step is to just pay attention to the types of things your significant other likes. Does she watch QVC or the Home Shopping Network, if she does, well then, there you go. The next step is to be really blunt

” Honey, if I could buy you any perfume in the world, which one would you want?” I am sure that she will give at least one answer. Now all we need to go do, so that we never have to go to the mall again, is get online. A great resource for this that I have found, one that my wife especially likes, is this Strawberry store. Believe me, before you know it you will have ordered exactly what the woman of your dreams wants and in just a short time be handing it to her with a “Surprise” look what I got you Smiles all around and maybe if you splurged a little, you do love her don’t ya’, a little more…..Happy Shopping Guys, it has just got so much easier.

I just got set up with FIOS and I love it. The speed of my computer has changed drastically, it is a great service. I tell you, it is way better than my old verizon DSL setup. Now for about the same price of my old DSL I have 10MB download and 2MB upload speeds which is so much better than my old 3mb/765kb setup. Along with the verizon online account I also have the wonderul FIOS TV, this includes high definition. This is perfect for my brand new LCD television. With two standard definition boxes, one high definition set top box, phone service and High Speed Dsl, my price is around 120 dollars a month. This is pretty sweet! Why is it so great? Because, before I was paying the same amount for regular cable through Time Warner and an upgraded 3 MB DSL/phone service through Verizon. Actually, I was paying about 5$ to $10.00 more. So you can see why I am so excited about this FIOS Service. If you have the chance and you are located in an area with the fiber optic services needed for FIOS I would strongly recommend getting it. It will make your television/online/phone experience so much better.

So here is a recap of what I am getting for about $120 a month:
200 plus (almost 250) channels, excluding movie channels.
10/2 Download/Upload online speeds
The verizon freedom essentials phone plan with
a) call waiting
b) number recognition
c) complete online support

I just got started with the service so as I learn more by will definitely be writing about it.

For another view check here.

Edit:

So, checking through my service I have found that I have about 20 HD channels. I hope verizon keeps adding more because this just is not enough for the cost. But, they have said that they will be adding more and more high definition channels, especially since cable is going all digital soon(2009 here we come). So I expect to have more HDchannels added on within the next year. We will just have to see.

On a better note, the service does include on demand channels. This includes on demand HD movies, kids shows, music programs, recorded network shows (discovery, NBC, Smithsonian channel etc.) and much more. I really do enjoy this part of Fios because I can watch whatever I want, whenever I want without having to go to the video store or wait for a program to be airing.

This is a great LCD TV. All though it is not 1080p, the picture is wonderful. This is a great buy and you can find it for around $800, if not cheaper, at a few big name stores. The picture is very clear and with just a DVD up-converter, which Samsung does make, you can be off to HD heaven.

I have found no real issues with this LCD and have been quite happy owning one myself. It makes a perfect starter or bedroom LCD. There are some firmware problems that have been reported on some of the older sets, but I have not encountered any of these. So, it looks like Samsung did resolve these issues on the newer ones.

Shop around, find a great deal on this TV, and then ask one of the big retailers to match that price. This is a great way to get a fine LCD for cheap.

Ahhh Italy. I was able to live in italy for a couple of years and what an experience it was. It is the land of mo-peds and three wheeled trucks. But what sets Italy apart from most other countries is it’s deep and rich history. Rome is of course the most historical region of this country. From the Roman empire to the Vatican, Rome has been a central part of all Europeon history. Yet, as elegant as Rome can seem, it can be deceiving.

First off, so much art and culture has thrived in Rome that one would feel that the city itself would be well kept and clean. Instead, you find alley ways full of rubbish and trash flying around everywhere. What a mess this place is. The amount of tourism, of course, does contribute to the garbage, but there just seems to be few resources, as far as cleaning crews, to keep the city somewhat tidy. One second you are walking inside the incredibly awe-inspiring St. Peter’s Basilica and the next second you are out in the street trying to dodge flying trash.

I suppose (sigh), just like in any big city, Rome has it’s downsides. There is a lot of crime, it is a very expensive place to stay, the food is great, but not cheap, and it is overly crowded( watch your purses and always have your wallet in your front pocket).

For example, we ate breakfast one morning at a place across from our hotel. When we were done, the bill was almost 100 euro (130 dollars then). This was for just three plates, in which one of them was for my 5 year old son. Also, during this meal, I had some Italian, who was sitting across from me eating with his family, just staring at me. It was pretty obvious that I had pissed him off somehow, who knows, but the guy was just giving me the worst looks possible. At the time I swore I was going to get into a brawl (lol). He ended up just walking away, but believe me when I say that I didn’t back down and I even asked him “what’s up?”. (mafioso??)Yikes!!! I have quite a few stories like this of Italy, but I’ll save them for a later date.

None the less, I did enjoy Rome quite a bit. The Vatican and Basilica are amazing. The coliseum, art, statues, culture, and history of this place are just extraordinary. Unfortunately, we do not have anything quite like this city here in the states. All in all, if you have a chance to go; JUST DO IT! Just don’t be surprised by what you might have to step over, or dodge, just to get to the Trevi Fountain.

The RCA RT2770 home theatre system is a great product. For about $150 you can have all the benefits of digital 5.1 surround sound, along with a full 1000 watts being distributed amongst the various speakers. It comes with an USB input, which is very handy for all of us who have songs saved on a USB drive. One of things that I liked the most about this system is it’s ease of use. All the speaker cables are color coated making it remarkebly easy to setup. It has both Digital and Dolby Pro Logic Surround, along with an emulation setup.

There are some drawbacks to the system.

It only has one optical and one coaxial digital input. If you want to hook up multiple digital lines you must come up with a clever way of doing this ( use the back of your HDTV for example ).

The sound isn’t made for huge rooms. It is best used in smaller to medium sized rooms.

Hard wired front/rear speakers are only so long.
